Managing Your Car's Odor

When a car's odor is good, it's a great thing. Who doesn't love that new car smell? When it goes bad, though, car odor can be terrible. Spills, rain, or leaks can all cause strange and off-putting smells in a car.

It's a good idea to be prepared for spills before they happen. Keep paper towels, or better yet, soft cloths in your car. When spills happen, pull over to the side of the road and deal with them quickly. If you're already past that point, and there's a lingering odor, use vacuuming to manage it. Sprinkle dry car carpet with baking soda. Leave for ten minutes, then vacuum up.

Alternatively, leave a bag of unground coffee open in the car overnight. This can help absorb odors and filter the air. For really tough odors, stop by and talk to our detailing experts at Acura of Serramonte.
